Speaker’s intervention repairs MPs quarters in record time
Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa yesterday inspected the Madiwela
Parliamentary (MPs) Housing scheme which has been completely repaired
and refurbished through his intervention.
The Speaker thanked all who had helped to repair the housing scheme
in a record time of 10 days including the Sri Lanka Army Engineering
Regiment.
A press release issued by the Speaker’s media secretary Chaminda
Paranavithana said several MPs had requested the Speaker to intervene
and repair the housing scheme which was in a dilapidated condition.
Following the request the Speaker inspected the housing scheme in the
second week of this month and found most of the houses unsuitable for
the residence of Parliamentarians representing outstation electorates.
The Speaker quickly directed relevant authorities to repair the
housing scheme in time for the Budget debate starting this week. |
