King of Pop remembered on his first Anniversary

There were tears and sadness on the first anniversary of King of Pop’s death on Friday, but also an atmosphere of celebration, as his music blasted from portable stereos and impersonators did their best attempts at the moon walk. At Jackson’s final resting place at the Forest Lawn cemetery in Glendale, Los Angeles, hundreds of fans, some weeping, filed past barricades since morning to get close to the mausoleum where Jackson is interred.

While Michael’s siblings paid their respects to their fallen brother with a trip to his mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif., the King of Pop’s mother, Katherine, flew with Michael’s kids to their family’s old home in Gary, Ind., for the unveiling of a monument in honour of the first anniversary of her global-superstar son’s death. Unveiling the Tombstone like monument she said “This past year has been very hard on the family, If it wasn’t for the help of all of you, we wouldn’t have made it through.”

Janet Jackson and brothers Germaine, Tito and Randy, made the pilgrimage to Forest Lawn, then gathered with other family members for lunch at a private Beverly Hills home, according to a source close to the family.

A steady stream of mourners dropped off flowers and other mementos at the Jackson family’s Encino compound throughout the day, as well. A group of Michael Jackson fans released 400 doves near his mausoleum as shouts of “We love you, Michael!” rang out through the crowd.

Patriarch Joe Jackson, meanwhile, picked the same day to file a wrongful death suit against Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael’s private physician who’s been charged with manslaughter. The complaint also states that Murray tried to “clean-up the scene” before Emergency medical team arrived.

Something new has emerged; Dr. Murray told cops he was monitoring Michael when he gave him Propofol with a pulse oximeter, which measures the level of oxygen in a patient’s blood. But according to the suit, when police searched the scene, they found the oximeter “in the closet in the next room.”

The complaint alleges Dr. Murray felt he could change his story for his convenience, from Jackson had no drug problem, to Jackson was addicted to Propofol, because he kept no medical records, as required by California law.

Recently there have been claims that that Dr. Murray was at a strip club, drinking, hours before Jackson died. The complaint says Jackson had a weak pulse while he was being worked on at UCLA.

The strong intimation, had Dr. Murray told UCLA doctors that Propofol was a factor, they could have taken steps to save Jackson’s life. However, fans all over the world mourned King of Pop on Friday, some in their own traditions, and you can see only a few here.
