Navy rescues trawler

Sri Lanka Navy rescued a fishing trawler over the week end, in the deep which seas had drifting due to an engine failure with five crew members on board .

The boat "Kapila Putha" was drifting at a location of 272 km North East of Mullaithivu in the deep seas when Navy went for its rescue.

Navy Spokesman Captain Athula Senarath told the Daily News that the fishing vessel has left from Trincomalee Fisheries Harbour on June 1 and requested for Navy's assistance on June 23, Prathapa was dispatched for the rescue mission.The fishing trawler towed by the Naval ship arrived at Trincomalee Fisheries Harbour (Cod Bay) on Saturday night. The fishermen were residents of Trincomalee.
