Germany crush England- 4/1

Germany inflicted England’s record World Cup finals defeat on Sunday after a 4-1 victory in their Last 16 match that was overshadowed by one of the worst refereeing mistakes in the tournament’s history. Germany’s superior movement and ruthless finishing made them worthy winners on an afternoon when England’s defending was shockingly sub-standard and their talisman, Wayne Rooney, once again failed to deliver on the game’s biggest stage.

Kandy fight back to beat Navy - 28/16

The defending League Champions Kandy Sports Club kept their chances alive of retaining the league title for the tenth successive year when they beat Navy by 28 points (one goal, one penalty goal, one try three penalties) to 16 (one goal three penalties) in their return match of the Caltex League Rugby Tournament played before a large crowd at Nittawela yesterday. At half time Navy led 13-11.

CR and FC in smashing 29-6 win over Air Force

CR and FC propelled by their power-packed forwards scored a smashing 29 points (three goals, one try, one penalty) to 6 (two penalties) win over Sri Lanka Air Force in their Caltex 'A' division League Cup championship rugby match played at Katunayake yesterday after leading 15-6 at the breather.
