Government to fill engineer vacancies

The Government will fill 271 engineer vacancies in the Government Service, Provincial Government Service and Local Government Service with effect from July 01.

Public Administration and Home Affairs Ministry, Engineering Services Director K.M.G.M. Bandara told the Daily News that the related letter of appointments have been already posted to respective candidates.

Accordingly, the new appointments will be 233 Civil Engineers, 19 Mechanical Engineers and 19 Electrical Engineers filling vacancies in the Sri Lanka Engineering Service. “The posts of 271 Engineers have been vacated from 2009. Vacancies for the 2010 will be filled shortly after these appointments are made”, Bandara said.

It has been observed that the accelerated development programs in connection with the Northern and Eastern Provinces were affected due to lack of officers at supervisory level specially in the construction sector.
