Vaastu Shastra director dies
Bollywood director Sourabh Narang, best known for his horror flick
Vaastu Shastra, (dubbed in Telugu as Marri Chettu), died of stomach
cancer in Sri Lanka on Saturday. He was 37.
The news broke after a friend of the director posted on Narang’s
Facebook: “I regret to inform everyone that our dear friend Sourabh Usha
Narang passed away in Colombo this morning after a protracted and
courageous battle with cancer.” Narang was undergoing treatment in
Colombo. “The services are going to be held on Monday (June 28),” the
friend added.
It is noteworthy that in 2002, Narang was asked in an interview:
“Where do you see yourself 10 years down the line?” The reply

The Karate Kid in town
Jackie and Jaden |
The Karate Kid, known as The Kung Fu Kid in China and Best Kid in
Japan and South Korea, is a 2010 martial arts remake of the 1984 film of
the same name. Directed by Harald Zwart, produced by Will and Jada
Pinkett Smith, the remake stars Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith.
12-year-old Dre Parker could’ve been the most popular kid in Detroit,
but his mother’s latest career move has landed him in China. Dre
immediately falls for his classmate Mei Ying - and the feeling is mutual
- but cultural differences make such a friendship impossible.
Even worse, Dre’s feelings make an enemy of the class bully, Cheng.
In the land of kung fu, Dre knows only a little karate, and Cheng puts
“the karate kid” on the floor with ease. With no friends in a strange
land, Dre has nowhere to turn but maintenance man Mr. Han, who is
secretly a master of kung fu.
As Han teaches Dre that kung fu is not about punches and parries, but
maturity and calm, Dre realizes that facing down the bullies will be the
fight of his life.
The movie will begin unspooling at Majestic cinema from July 3 as a
CEL release. |
