Low cost budget airlines will stimulate the market and it has a
positive impact on the growth of the aviation industry. The political
stability of Sri Lanka will fuel growth in the travel sector where low
cost budget airlines can play a dominant role. flydubai, Dubai’s first
low cost airline inaugurated its flight to Colombo last week to
facilitate the heavy migrant traffic, flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith
said.
flydubai will operate four flights per week in its 189 passenger
capacity 737 aircraft. Since its inception 13 months ago, the airline
has recorded steady growth in Beirut-Dubai and Amana-Dubai routes
recording 33 percent and 44 percent growth respectively. The reason
behind the success is the simple uncomplicated low fare benefiting
passengers.
We are confident the Sri Lankan operation too will be a success. The
airlines will further strengthen the relationship between Dubai and Sri
Lanka, he said.
The airline plans to increase its cargo carrying capacity in the
future by allowing more passenger cargo offering more facilities to the
passengers.
We are in line with the operational plan and satisfied with the
results achieved within this short time.
Sri Lanka’s presence is strong in the Middle-East region as there are
a large number of migrant workers. With the tourist industry becoming
more attractive for the travellers, heavy traffic could be expected in
near future.
The stable environment in the country will be an advantage for
flydubai to grow and sustain its operations in Sri Lanka, the CEO said.
Dubai on the other hand, has been called the “shopping capital” of
the Middle East.
As one of the most visited cities in the world, Dubai accounts for
more than 70 shopping malls including some of the world’s best and most
opulent.
But, there is much more to Dubai than shopping and the city recently
celebrated the opening of the world’s tallest tower, the Burj Khalifa,
housing the world’s first Armani hotel. |
