July 14 Cabinet meeting in Kilinochchi

The July 14 Cabinet meeting will be held at Kilinochchi and Cabinet meetings thereafter will be held in other parts of the country due to the peaceful environment, said Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena.

A Health Ministry spokesman said Minister Sirisena had revealed this addressing after handing over appointment letters to 40 dispensers. The North and Eastern Provinces will be allocated 14 dispensers from these new appointments. The plantation sector will also receive new dispensers from this new batch. Meanwhile the Minister who inspected the Lady Ridgeway Hospital following a complaint received that expired plasma expander fluid had been allegedly administered to children suffering from dengue instructed that better facilities be provided by the hospital.

He said parents were compelled to buy medicines from private dispensers when these drugs are freely available in the hospital.

It was discovered that some doctors had administered an outdated stock of plasma expander fluid to the children while new stocks of drugs were freely available, forcing parents to purchase them from outside. There are around 50 child dengue patients in the hospital at present, the spokesman added.
