The new seven President’s Counsels with Chief Justice Asoka

The Supreme Court yesterday held a special ceremonial sitting for the
swearing in of seven legal luminaries as President's Counsel - "Silk".
The Supreme Court Bench comprised Chief Justice Asoka de Silva,
Senior Supreme Court Judge Justice Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake, Justice
Shirani Tilakawardena, Justice Nimal Gamini Amaratunga, Justice Chandra
Ekanayake and Justice S.I. Imam.
Court of Appeal President Sathya Hettige, PC and the other Court of
Appeal Judges, High Court Judges, Commercial High Court Judges, District
Judge and the Additional District Judges, Colombo Chief Magistrate and
Colombo Additional Magistrates were at the dias. Supreme Court Registrar
Maheshi Jayasekera officiated. The seven new 'SILK' are Dr. Jayatissa de
Costa, Neveille Joseph, Upali Gooneratne, Jayantha Weerasinghe, Anil
Silva, W. Dayaratne and Justice and Reforms Ministry Secretary Suhada
Gamlath.
