Child abducted over money transaction dispute

A three-year-old boy was allegedly abducted by his father’s two business partners over a money transaction dispute Thursday. Rishan Mohamed Sasmi of Buttala town was abducted around 4.00 p.m by the two men by promising to buy sweetmeats from a nearby boutique, Police said. They had taken away the child in a motorcycle. The suspects are residents of Eragama, Damana.

Police Spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody told the Daily News that the child is still missing. Buttala and Damana Police have deployed special teams to arrest the suspects.

The child’s father is a cattle trader and was engaged in the business with the two suspects. The two suspects used to come to their business partner’s house often and were well known to the child.
