Lak sathosa to open 400 outlets

The Co-operatives and Internal Trade Ministry will increase the
number of Lak Sathosa retail outlets to 400 to make Lak Sathosa the
market leader, Co-operatives and Internal Trade Minister Johnston
Fernando said at the opening of the 196th Lak Sathosa retail outlet in
Kilinochchi.
More Lak Sathosa retail outlets will be opened especially in
liberated areas in the North and the East.
Under this initiative, two other Lak Sathosa outlets will be opened
in the Mannar district within the next few weeks. It has been arranged
to reach the target of opening 400 Lak Sathosa retail outlets by the end
of the year.
The staff of the Lak Sathosa outlets will be recruited from the same
area where the outlet is established. Therefore more employment
opportunities will be available for the youth in the particular areas.
The main aim of opening Lak Sathosa outlets is to provide consumers
with quality commodities at a competitive and reasonable price. As a
people-friendly institute, more facilities will be added to the Lak
Sathosa network.
Under this, quality rice will soon be available at Lak Sathosa.
The Ministry will commence operations of rice mills which had been
closed earlier due to various reasons.
Local paddy harvest will be utilised to produce rice.
The rice will be sold through countrywide Lak Sathosa outlets,
Minister Fernando added.
Several Ministers and Parliamentarians including Namal Rajapaksa also
participated. |
