Morning Inspection
(Editorial page - June 3 )
Malinda’s article is excellent. I’ve always admired his style of
writing and feel good to know that we can produce writers like him in
today’s climate of ‘Sinhala Only’.

IIFA global publicity
(News- June 5)
Excellent! We need to highlight our valuable history in the
appropriate light, at the
appropriate times, whilst also, highlighting the end of the war on
the battlefield, and also highlighting events like IIFA.
It is easy to criticise. Let not be weary of the critics. without the
oppositions life would be boring.
Opponents too should know not get personalized. Our President has
achieved a lot for our country.
Opponents are quick to sweep the achievements under the carpet, and
highlight corruption and nepotism. Our President, and the External
Affairs Minister, can both, fly the Lion flag high the globe over.

Morning Inspection - June7
Thumbs Up to Morning Inspection. A fitting and thoughtful tribute to
all those, not so tightly- coiled and overprotective Dads. The writer’s
poetic gifts and philosophical accomplishments combine in a manner that
is both entertaining to read and profound to contemplate. Nothing short
of wonderful.

Elephants cause fear
(News- June 5)
It is unfortunate but there is no one who can write on behalf of the
elephants. They would say that the terrible selfish humans have come and
taken all our lands, we have no where to go, we are afraid that they
would throw crackers and shoot at us, put electric wires to kill us,
they capture and get us to perform silly acts for their pleasure! So
lets go into their lands and eat their food.
Our ancestors used to roam this entire land. Hanwella and Chilaw were
favourite haunts. Now we are being fenced in. What crime have we
committed?

Indian Film Industry
Please be aware that “Bollywood” is a term despised by the Indian
Actors and the Indian Film Industry. “Bollywood” was coined by the
Hollywood Movie
Industry which did not appreciate the rampant growth of the Indian
Industry and wished to demean it. The Western media soon followed as
expected but all Asian media has now stopped using this derogatory term.

Citizens’ Charter
(News- June 5)
I fail to understand what the Minister means when he says that these
public servants should attend to people’s matters in “a friendly”
manner.
When it comes to performing ones duties there is nothing that
friendliness can do about it.
Of course courtesy matters. The problem with most public
servants have something to do with ‘ego’ in addition to a massive
dose of ‘lethargy’. So first of all the Minister should find a remedy
for that. Treatment for other smaller ailments should follow.
