Kelani Saviya passing out on June 20
The Kelani Saviya passing out ceremony will be held on June 20 under
the patronage of Peradeniya University Vice Chancellor Prof S.B.S.
Abeyakoon.
The Kelani Saviya Program is the outcome of the agreement signed by
the Peradeniya University Vice Chancellor (then Engineering Faculty
Dean) Prof S.B.S. Abeyakoon and Kelani Cables Managing Director Hemantha
Perera. A key objective of the agreement is to promote youth to achieve
professionalism in the electrician vocation and gain social recognition
in addition to job assurance.
The entire course was designed by Peradeniya University Electrical
and Electronic Engineering Department Prof Janaka Ekanayake. The course
consists of three levels and the entry point to each module is
specified. Those who complete all three levels successfully will be
awarded certificates of the Peradeniya University Electrical and
Electronic Engineering Department.
The Kelani Saviya Program was launched on July 14, 2007 with 50
students from various parts of the island.
According to Peradeniya University Electrical and Electronic
Engineering Department Senior Lecturer, and Course Director Kelani
Saviya, Dr Manjula Fernando students who have successfully completed the
task, gained theoretical and practical knowledge during the program,
including installation of the wiring of domestic and industrial
premises, lightning protection, data and communication wiring, digital
electronic applications, intelligent electrical installation and wiring
of automated systems. |
