Green marketing is now playing a major role in the sphere of
marketing. Marketeers and manufacturers all over the world have arrived
at a common platform to nurture an environment sans pollution and to
keep global warming at bay.
Brandix has emerged as the first apparel manufacturer in the world to
achieve the Platinum Green Building Certification awarded by the US
Green Building Council which is the Americas benchmark for
design/construction and operation of high performance green buildings.
The highest requirement to achieve Platinum is 64 percent. The
Seeduwa plant of Brandix has scored 76 percent. We are proud as Sri
Lankans to have brought this honour to our country and look forward to
benchmark our activities with newest world standards constantly,” an
official of Brandix said.
The Brandix factory, which produces casual wear at Seeduwa, has won
LEED EB (Leadership in energy and environmental design, existing
building) Platinum certification, while Brandix Essentials at Ratmalana
has won the Gold certification for construction (LEED NC).
Brandix Essentials, Ratmalana is the first office building in Sri
Lanka to achieve the LEED Gold certificate.
Some of the measures taken by Brandix to go green are, reducing the
emit of Carbon Dioxide, reducing electricity and water consumption,
reducing solid waste, having a water recycling system, a rain water
harvesting system, a tertiary filtration system and a disinfection
process which allows water to be recycled for toilet flushing and
gardening.
Brandix has 27 factories in the country, which produces casual wear,
intimate apparel and underwear for export.
Brandix mainly caters to US and EU markets and recently took their
operations to Japan as well. Brandix has two new factories at the newly
set up Apparel Park in India and looks forward to have altogether 20
factories in India as well in order to achieve economy in the scale in
