Cargills Ceylon PLC CEO Ranjit Page and MAS Holdings Chairman Mahesh
Amalean were awarded CNBC–IIFA Global Leadership Awards 2010 at the
FICCI–IIFA Global Business Forum held last Friday. These local
businessmen were honoured for the contributions they have made to the
Sri Lankan corporate sector and the society.
Indian Actor Anupam Kher was also awarded at the business forum.
Cargills Ceylon PLC CEO Ranjit Page was honoured for making Cargills
Supermarket chain the most responsible super market chain in the country
through reaching rural masses, adopting business models that could
develop the livelihood of grassroots level segment and gain their
contribution for the economic development of the country.
The Cargills business model is highly recognized by the world’s
reputed business leaders.
MAS Holdings Chairman Mahesh Amalean was honoured for the
contribution he had made for building economic bridges thorough
business. Being one of the largest apparel exporters in the country he
has provided employment for a large number of youth in the country. MAS
has also made their presence in India and the MAS brand has become the
most admirable brand in Sri Lanka.
Indian Business Delegation, Head, the Lalit Suri Hospitality Group
Chairperson and Managing Director Jyotsna Suri speaking at the Business
Forum said India and Sri Lanka has vibrant economies. The trade volumes
between the two countries are increasing rapidly.
There is a huge potential for hotel sector, food processing and
knowledge based services in Sri Lanka, she said.
FCCISL President Kosala Wickramanayake said that business leaders in
both countries have a major role in developing trade between the two
countries. Sri Lanka is expecting 2.5 million tourists by 2016 and
expecting a large amount of tourists arrivals from India which will
create opportunities for both countries. |
