As the Micromax IIFA Awards 2010 draw nearer, the nominees for the
prestigious Awards have come out to make their excitement known. Ranbir
Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor, who are up against each other in the
Performance in a Leading Role - Male for the Micromax IIFA Awards 2010,

honour and recognition for their work.
Speaking on his nomination for Wake Up Sid, Ranbir Kapoor says, "It
feels very good when your work is reciprocated in such a big way. And I
hope I win the Best Actor awards somewhere soon in my life."
Shahid Kapoor, nominated for his performance in Kaminey says, "I am
happy that I have been nominated for Kaminey. It is a very special film
for me. IIFA is indeed the best award function and is a wonderful
opportunity to interact with international audience."
While Paa and Dev D were hits of the year, the actresses who
contributed to the films with superb performances were Vidya Balan and
debutant Mahie Gill. The Micromax IIFA Awards honours both films in the
Best Film category, and rightly honours the actresses as well in the
category of Performance in a Leading Role - Female.
With Paa striking a chord with audiences, Vidya Balan says, "Paa is
very special to me and to get nominated for it by the IIFA and that too
for the Best Actress award is truly even more special. I am very happy,
nervous, excited - Thank you IIFA."
Debutant Mahie Gill who floored audiences with her performance in Dev
D says, "Dev D was my first film and to be nominated for my first film
itself in IIFA is truly an honour."
As always, the Videocon IIFA Weekend, taking place in Colombo, Sri
Lanka from June 3 to5 2010, will be a culmination of mega events that
brings Indian cinema to the world. The Videocon IIFA Weekend includes
the high-profile FICCI IIFA Global Business Forum, the IIFA Foundation
Fashion Extravaganza, the IIFA Foundation Celebrity Cricket Match, World
Premieres of Indian films, IIFA Film Workshop and the climax of the

Chopra excited about awards event

Vidhu Vinod Chopra has said that he likes attending the International
Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards.
The producer, whose film 3 Idiots has been nominated for 14 gongs at
this year's ceremony, claimed that the IIFA event gives everyone in
Bollywood the chance to socialise together.
"I really appreciate IIFA because it is when the whole film
fraternity gets together," Chopra told Real Bollywood.
"At the IIFA Weekend, the whole film fraternity gets together and
there is a feeling of togetherness. It's not something like you just go
and pick your award and come back."
3 Idiots was directed by Rajkumar Hirani and starred Aamir Khan and
Kareena Kapoor.

Help reaches IIFA

Actors Bobby Deol and Mugdha Godse will unveil the first look of
their horror-thriller Help at the IIFA awards 2010 in Colombo this
weekend.
"I am very happy that the first look of our film will be unveiled at
an International platform like IIFA," said Bobby.
The film, directed by Rajeev Virani, is a supernatural horror that
draws upon the story of a spirit that refuses to leave the human world
"Last year, during the IIFA in Macao, my last film had its first look
unveiled. I'm glad that this time its Help," said Mugdha.
