It is focused and devoted to the development of power generation and alternative power, PV power, energy and renewable energy sectors of the country, CEMS - Global, Global Operation Group Director Saheed Sarwar said.

The second Power Sri Lanka 2010 is the first ever international exhibition on power and energy to be held in Sri Lanka. The three day exhibition began yesterday.

A significant leap can be taken in Sri Lanka’s power and energy sector by close interaction between the exhibitors of the exhibition from over 10 countries. This opportunity for the local entrepreneurs would lead to successful partnerships and joint ventures to accomplish the Government’s vision of fulfilment of people’s aspirations and to face challenges successfully, Sarwar said.

The exhibition provides an opportunity for the country’s rapidly developing industry sector where investments are now on the rise.

New industrialization would make Sri Lanka an important business destination in South Asia. The CEMS - Global saw this great potential and launch operations bringing its world renowned exhibitions to Sri Lanka. The exhibition is expected to play an important role in familiarising the local entrepreneurs with the newest technologies.

It gives special emphasis on renewable energy and PV power to encourage investment in this sector to meet ever growing demand and to lessen the dependency on existing resources.

It also helps to produce power more efficiently, effectively and with less harm to the environment.

Concurrent exhibitions are being held namely Renewable Energy Sri Lanka 2010 International Expo, PV Power Sri Lanka 2010 Expo and E- Power Sri Lanka 2010 International Expo focusing on electric power equipment and technology.
