Two arrested with Gelegnite and detonators

The Navy arrested two persons with Gelegnite sticks and non electric detonators at the Nilaveli area Sunday.

Navy Spokesman Captain Athula Senarath told the Daily News that an intelligence team attached to the Eastern Naval command arrested two persons on information received from an informant. The two were arrested with the Gelegnite and non electric detonators while they were travelling on a motor- bike at Vellor-Nilaweli. The suspects were 24 and 28 years and were residents from Annal Nagar, Kinniya. They possessed 51 Gelegnite Sticks 200 Non Electric detonators in two boxes. The Navy also seized the the Motorbike.

The Navy also arrested another four suspects who engaged in illegal fishing using gelegnite three kilometres off Pullmuddai shores last week.

Navy Spokesman further said a Navy team attached to SLNS Barana found five Out Boat Motors (OBMs) hidden in a toilet pit in the Mullikulam area by the LTTE Saturday. They were highly corroded and non operational. There were 3 9.9 horse power OBMs and two 15 horse power OBMs.
