UNICEF develops Kilinochchi Hospital

The UNICEF helped re-establish the emergency obstetric and paediatric care unit at the Kilinochchi General Hospital.

The hospital is now equipped to handle complicated obstetric procedures and facilitate pregnant mothers to deliver their babies safely. Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa and UNICEF Representative Philippe Duamelle opened the new facility at the hospital recently.

The hospital was severely damaged by the LTTE and vital facilities were lost due to the war.
