SLCBC hosts luncheon meeting
The Sri Lanka-Canada Business Council (SLCBC) hosted a luncheon
meeting at the Hilton Colombo Residence and Suntel Ltd Director,
Information Technology and Solutions Delivery Dr. Tariq Marikar made a
presentation on "How to turn IT into a low cost strategic tool for your
business."
Rajah Abeyasinghe mentioned in his introductory speech, that it is
their mandate to host luncheon meetings with eminent speakers on matters
of trade, economy, business interests or policy matters. SLBC was
inaugurated on August 14, 1991 and functions under the aegis of the
Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. The council serves a membership of over
fifty companies.
Its primary objectives are to promote investment and bilateral trade,
to exchange trade and investment information with appropriate trade
chambers in Canada.
The meeting was well attended and SLCBC Vice Presidents Ramya Perera,
Sampath Liyanage and Committee member B. C Tan were also in attendance.
Chiranthi Balapatabandi from the Trade Commissioner's Office of the
Canadian High Commission in Sri Lanka was also present.
