Airtel moves to East

Bharti Airtel Lanka, a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel announced its entry into the Eastern Province.

With this, Airtel expands services to Ampara, Kalmunai, Batticaloa and Trincomalee districts and now covers over 70 percent of addressable population throughout the island.

Commenting on the launch of services in the East, Bharti Airtel Lanka CEO Amali Nanayakkara said, they are delighted at being given the opportunity to serve the people of the Eastern Province and contribute to its growth story. It will be Airtel's endeavour to drive affordability in this market and empower more and more Sri Lankans to experience the benefits of our service, which is now enjoyed by nearly 140 million customers across South Asia.

"We are confident that with this experience and expertise behind us, we will also make a positive impact on the East as it dawns into a new era of development and prosperity," she said.
