DPRK freezes South Korean ties
N Korea: The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) announced
Tuesday the decision to break off relations with South Korea in view of
the latter’s campaign in the case of the sunken warship for which it
holds the DPRK responsible.
The Committee for Peaceful Reunification of the Homeland (CPRH)
declares officially that from now on it will apply resolved actions to
freeze relations, abrogate the non aggression pact and cut off
North-South cooperation, according to a spokesman of the CPRH quoted by
KCNA news agency. As the first step there will be no dialogue or contact
among authorities under President Lee Myung Bak’s Government, and work
of Red Cross liaison delegates in Panmunjon is suspended, and all
communications between North and South. The decision includes the
freezing and closing of the consultate office of bilateral economic
cooperation in Kaesong industrial zone and the expulsion of staff from
the other side.
Another measure refers to the start of a counter offensive on the
psychological war waged by South Korean authorities against Pyongyang.
The passage of planes and ships from the South through DPRK’s waters
and air space was also banned, and all problems in bilateral links will
be handled according to law during wartime. Pyongyang, Prensa Latina
