HCR tennis starts June 19

The Hilton Colombo Residence (HCR) has been very much alive to its
responsibility and has sought opportunities to identify itself with the
community at large.
This it has done the year around, through the promotion and fostering
of sports in the island.
Foremost of which is the organising and conducting at various times
three sporting galas viz; the swimming gala, tennis gala and the
marathon gala. In keeping with its commitment the HCR will hold for the
eighth consecutive year, the Hilton Colombo Tennis Gala 2010. It will
take place from June 19 and conclude on June 27 at the HCR tennis courts
- with Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) being the official sponsor for the
fifth successive year.
These observations were made by GM-HCR, Manesh Fernando, at a media
briefing held on Tuesday evening at the HCR. Fernando, also emphasised
that the entire exercise was to build a spirit of camaraderie and
goodwill between HCR and the people at large - where hearty sports
lovers play together on one court, as a mix of amateurs and
professionals.
The Director, Local Corporate Banking (SCB), Lorenzo Jayasinghe,
before handing over the sponsorship, said he was associated with this
annual event on four previous occasions, and wished the current
tournament all success.
