Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Haruhiko Kuroda will visit Sri
Lanka today.
He will pledge ADB's continuing support for the Government's post-war
reconstruction and development programs. During the visit - his first as
ADB President to Sri Lanka - Kuroda is scheduled to meet top government
officials and discuss ADB's ongoing assistance for the country's efforts
to rebuild basic infrastructure, especially in the war-affected Northern
and Eastern provinces.
Sri Lanka's decades-old civil conflict ended one year ago in May
2009.
As of April 30, ADB has approved loans totaling $212 million to the
country for this year.
