Raigam Tele Awards turns Tele'es

As curtains fell on the sixth Raigam Tele Awards, the heads of the
Kingdom of Raigam had decided to title the seventh Raigam Tele Award
ceremony as Raigam Tele'es, it was revealed recently.
Speaking at a press conference at the Galle Face Hotel, Raigam
Chairman and CEO Ravi Liyanage said that this new concept is structured
in a manner to suit international standards.
"Raigam Tele'es is not only limited for television artistes but it is
open to the television viewers as well. Sinhala, Tamil and English
projects falling into the categories of teledramas, programs and news
will be evaluated and nominated for the awards," Liyanage revealed.
This novel concept had been innovated by the team who was armed with
six years of experience of staging one of the most looked forward to
events in the local arts calendar. A jury comprising seasoned local and
Asiatic directors will also be formed to grade and select the best among
the best.

Two segments will be included in the Raigam Tele'es: the most
talented category selected by the judges and the most popular category
selected according to audience votes vis SMS.
The programs segment includes children's, educational, comedy,
morning, women's, religious, discussions, documentaries, musicals and
many more features. Directing, camera, technical support and timing will
be evaluated.
Awards will be handed over from the Best News Reader to the Best
Video Camera Operator. Here too there will be separate categories for
the judges to choose the best as well as the audience to choose their
favourites. In addition special awards will be handed over to artistes
who have done yeoman service to the field. Thespians like Titus
Thotawatta, Shan Wickramasinghe and Dr. D.B. Nihalsinghe have clinched
the awards during the past years. Raigam Tele Awards' was inaugurated
with the aim of appreciating the talents, creativities and contributions
of tele-creators and institutions devoted to the progress of the tele -
industry.
Tele'es will follow the team's six year progress with greater
strength and bring the country's small screen talents to light at a
greater pace. |
