Cuban Five Guerrero's paintings on display in California
US: The collection of paintings "Desde mi Altura" (From My Height) by
Antonio Guerrero, one of the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unfairly
imprisoned in the United States exhibited Saturday at the Ancient Prison
of Venice's Gallery in California. Guerrero's works, conceived in total
isolation, consist of scenes drawn from memory, as lyric reflections of
his nostalgia for Cuba, highlights a release from the International
Committee to Free the Cuban Five, promoter of the initiative.
This exhibition is also accompanied by a reading of his poems, which
will be recited by actor Edward Asner. Actor Danny Glober will read a
message and a documentary to update public about the case will be
screened.
Glober said that this case shows the dangerous and problematic
double-standard in the USA in its struggle against terrorism, and called
on President Barack Obama to correct this injustice.
