Serial robber remanded

Koswatte Police have busted a series of robberies which occurred in Negombo and Wennappuwa areas following the arrest of a suspected criminal at Thunmodera junction Friday.

Interrogation of the suspect led Police to the recovery of a LCD monitor, a mercury computer, a UPS battery, a computer keyboard, a mouse and a Kodak printer robbed from a shop in Negombo on November 18 last year. A computer and a stock of paint robbed from a paint shop at Kosgashandiya, Wennappuwa on February 8 and a mobile phone and a lady’s wristwatch out of goods worth Rs. 290,000 robbed from a supermarket in Marawila on February 28 were also seized.

The suspect was produced before the Marawila Magistrate and remanded till May 26.

Stolen motorcycle found

Meanwhile, Koswatta Police recovered a stolen Bajaj Boxer motorcycle following interrogation of a suspect arrested at the Yakdessawa paddy field in Koswatte Friday.

The suspect, a resident of Barampola Kadigamuwa was produced before the Marawila Magistrate and remanded till May 26.
