Hardcore terrorist arrested

A hardcore LTTE terrorist, self styled Captain Maththalagu alias Shivagnanam Ainkaran was arrested from a hotel in Station Road Mt. Lavinia by Officers of the Mount Lavinia Police Crimes Bureau on Friday. Police said the suspect who had been hospitalized for injuries sustained in the LTTE last ditch battle at Wellamulla Waikkal had been planning to escape to India after running away from hospital.

Following interrogation of the suspect who is held in detention Police were able to recover a large haul of LTTE arms and ammunition hidden in a house in Pokkanai, Mullaitivu.

The haul included 10 claymore mines, three locally made hand grenades, two detonators, two pouches, two pairs of packages used in operations, three batteries, one jungle outfit, one cap, 50 metre cord, four first aid boxes and a book containing LTTE leader’s policies.
