Buddhist Film Festival at BMICH

As a second stage, to mark the 2600th Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi in 2011,
the Light of Asia Foundation, Sri Lanka Film Corperation, BMICH and
International Computer and Technology Agency will hold the international
Buddhist Film Festival on May 28, 29 and 30, at the BMICH Colombo.
Organizers of the International Buddhist Film Festival said that, it
will be held under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the
guidance of the International Buddhist Film Festival Chairman and
Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa. This spiritual event will be held during Vesak
2011.
One of the main objectives of the film festival organizers, is to
make Sri Lanka as the centre of Buddhist films in 2011.
The first stage to mark the 2600th Sri Sambuddha Jayanthi was held
along with Vesak 2009.
Over 200 films on Buddhist themes have been selected to be screened
at the Buddhist film festival in 2010. Three categories of foreign and
local Buddhist films will be screened in categories-excellent, very good
and good films. Among the films will be feature, documentary, animation,
short films. Some other animated pandols, Vesak e-cards, art,
photography, e-paintings will also be on display simultaneously with the
2010 Buddhist Film Festival.
The theme of the International Buddhist Film Festival is, Light of
Asia Foundation, Chairman Naveen Gunaratne said.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa is the patron of the International
Buddhist Film Festival Committee. The Chairman is Speaker Chamal
Rajapaksa.
