Cooperative boost in North

The Northern Provincial Council will conduct a seminar for all co-operative society members in the North today, organised by the Presidential Task Force.

Northern Province Governor Major General G.A. Chandrasiri said the Cooperative Task Force has organised a seminar in Jaffna gathering all cooperative society staff members of the Northern Province to develop the cooperative sector in the North.

“It was well known that the country’s best cooperative system existed in the Jaffna peninsula.

Since the situation was unstable in the past, the cooperative system drastically fell apart.

We want to reinstate that superiority in the Northern cooperative system as the best in the island”, Chandrasiri told the Daily News.

He said senior cooperative society members from Colombo will address the gathering. Many findings and researcher will be discussed.

Three Task Forces for the Northern Province to develop the cooperative sector, industrial sector and rural development sector were established by the Government.
