English medium A/L teachers for classes with over 15 students

The Education Ministry will post English medium A\L teachers to schools where there are classes with over 15 students in attendance.

He said the Government decided to recruit English medium Advanced Level teachers for the first time to solve the teacher shortage in schools where there are English medium classes.

“There should be over 20 students in a class to receive English medium graduate teachers for schools in urban and suburban areas. These teachers will be posted to rural schools if such schools have A\L classes with over 15 English medium students in attendance,” he said.

The Minister said applications have been called from English medium graduate teachers willing to teach in A\L classes in Government schools. He said over 5,000 students do their A\Ls in the English medium in 93 schools islandwide.

These teachers will teach subjects under the commerce, science and arts streams for the A\L.
