Market remains strong, turnover tops Rs 1.2 b

The market continued to remain strong with the ASPI up by 13 points (+0.3 percent) to end at 4,243 while the more liquid MPI gained 32 points (+0.7 percent) to close at 4,774.

Turnover for the day was Rs 1.2 billion with Environmental Resource Investments W0000 accounting for Rs 174 million of the business.

Yesterday was the last trading day for the warrant which will be converted to shares on the payment of Rs 22.00 to the company.

The warrant ended at Rs 56.00, while the share closed trading for the day at Rs 87.25. John Keells Holdings saw renewed buying at Rs 121 million worth of shares changed hands.

The share ended the day at Rs 185.50.

Aitken Spence and Company saw Rs 56 million worth of business as the share gained Rs 49.00 to close at Rs 1,499.25. Lanka IOC gained Rs 2.50 to close at Rs 21.75, a change of 13 percent, as 1.8 million shares changed hands. First Guardian Equities
