In the field of Drug Control:
Colombo Plan enhances human resource of member countries
The Colombo Plan is the first regional organization to address the
drug abuse problem in the Asia-Pacific region since the inception of the
Colombo Plan Drug Advisory Program (CPDAP) in 1973. Currently, the
Colombo Plan is the biggest stakeholder in drug demand reduction in the
Asia-Pacific region.
Responding to the changing needs of member countries, the Colombo
Plan has six capacity-building programs for May-June 2010 to strengthen
the capacity of human resources in drug control and drug demand
reduction.
Of these six initiatives, two regional programs are for Drug Law
Enforcement officers and four programs for drug demand reduction
initiatives in Afghanistan.
The regional training on drug law enforcement:
1. Regional Training for Drug Law Enforcement Officers, Singapore,
May 17-21, in collaboration with the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) of
Singapore.
2. Seventh Regional Training Course on Precursor and Chemical Control
for Narcotics Law Enforcement Officers, Thailand, June 21-27, in
collaboration with the Office of Narcotics Control Board (ONCB),
Thailand.
Up to two places in each of the above two regional training will be
available for Sri Lankans. All nominations have to be endorsed by the
National Dangerous Drug Control Board of Sri Lanka. |
