“We were extra careful when we ventured into a new area of business. We waited for the best moment to capture the market by introducing products to suit consumer needs. We consider it important to understanding market dynamics. The new products will open new vistas of computer possibility allowing Sri Lankans to access the most advanced technology at an affordable price,” Amarasuriya said.

Singer Sri Lanka launched Singer X series, powerful, stylish, durable and affordable range of notebooks and netbooks.

The X series range includes a chic netbook, loaded with Intel Atom processor and two notebooks.

All three mobile PCs will feature powerful Intel chips and Windows 7 operating system.

The computer industry changes very rapidly with the improvement in technology. It is not a stock carrying industry, but a revolutionary industry. Singer will ensure that customers get the latest products in the global market.

A paradigm shift could be seen in the way that a computer is used and Singer intends to add value to society by introducing this new product. The product will be made available in rural areas as in the case of other Singer products.

The upward movement in business strength was possible by joining hands with technological partners - Intel and Microsoft.

This partnership will enable Singer to reach a wider cross section of households.

“The product quality will be a deciding factor in the retail market and Singer products dominated the market for a considerable time. It is expected that the X series laptops will be the market leader in the near future,” Microsoft Country Manager Sriyan de Silva Wijeyeratne said.

“The new machines cater to the increasing demand for small, light and powerful portable computing devices that will benefit consumers,” he said.
