Pakistan make 147-9 against England
Defending champions Pakistan made 147 for nine against England in
their World Twenty20 Super Eights match here on Thursday after losing
the toss.

Entries called for Beach VB C’ships
The National Beach Volleyball Championship 2010 is scheduled to be
conducted at the Mount Lavinia Beach on May 22 and 23. The tournament
organized by the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation is sponsored by Mount
Lavinia Hotel.
Players who have participated in the national tournaments in 2008,
2009 and 2010 are eligible only to compete in the Super League Tourney
while the others are qualified to play in the Superleague or the Novices
category according to the tournament Committee Rules.
All Men and Women Beach Volleyballers are requested to send in their
entries to C. Ratnamudali, Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation, Old Race
Course Building, Reid Avenue, Colombo 07 on or before May 14 with an
entry fee of Rupees 200.
Three ‘tons’ in Basnahira’s 440/6
Three splendid centuries from opener Lahiru Thirimanna, Janaka
Gunaratne and wicket keeper batsman Prasanna Jayawardena helped
Basnahira South amass a massive 440 for 6 in their first innings on the
opening day of their Bank of Ceylon inter provincial 4 day cricket
tournament match against Ruhuna which commenced at Havelock Park
yesterday.

Paceman Kaushalya Weeraratne snapped up four wickets for 57 as
Kandurata dismissed Wayamba for 258 runs in their first innings on the
opening day of their Bank of Ceylon inter provincial 4 day cricket
tournament match which began at the Asgiriya Stadium yesterday.

SACK win 51/12
St. Anthony’s College Kandy produced a splendid performance to beat
Wesley College by a huge margin of 51 points to 12 points in their
Singer inter school under 20 ‘A’ division league rugby tournament match
worked off at Havelock Park yesterday.
The Antonians led 24-12 at half time and went on to register their
first win for the current season.
Special meeting
A special meeting of the Royal Basketball Club for selection of
office bearers will be held on Saturday at the Police Officers Mess in
Wellawatte commencing at 7.00 p.m.

Seminar on VB
A seminar on ‘Middle Player’ is to conducted by the FIVB Regional
Development Center in Chennai, India from June 1-6 for Coaches and
Volleyball players.
Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation calls for Applications from
interested coaches and players to submit their entries before May12.
The Federation also states that all expenses are to be borne by the
applicants inclusive of travel and others.
