SLC-ACC launch Asia Cup
Sri Lanka Cricket joined hands with the Asian Cricket Council as the
Asia Cup 2010 was officially launched at a ceremony held at the SLC
Headquarters in Maitland Place yesterday.
The 10th edition of the Asia Cup limited overs cricket tournament
will be worked off from June 15 to June 25 at the Rangiri Dambulla
International Stadium with all matches under lights.
Sri Lanka who are the defending champions will take on Pakistan in
the curtain raiser match of the tournament on June 15. The other two
teams participating are India and Bangladesh.
The four teams will play each other on a league basis and the two top
teams will clash in the final scheduled for June 24. Sri Lanka has the
credit of appearing in every final since the inception. The champions
will be presented a cash award of 200,000 US dollars and the funds
raised from this tournament will be utilised to support and develop the
game in the Asian region. (C.D)
