Over eighty entries have been received for the Annual Mark Bostock
Memorial Golf Championship 2010 organised by the Victoria Golf and
Country Resort and sponsored by John Keells Holdings Limited and
co-sponsored by Pericycle and Anchor Boor will be worked off at the
beautiful Victoria Golf Course at Rajawella off Kandy today with the
first tee off at 7 a.m.
The showers experienced in the Victoria has helped the growth of
grass without watering is in best possible condition and has been made
challenging by the Course Manager Maheel Bulumulla under the guidance of
General Manager Errol Johnston.
General Johnston said that the golf course has been brought up to
best possible condition and it is not going to be easy for the golfers
as they will have to display their skills to come to terms with it.
The large number of local and foreign golfers are bound to enjoy the
golf an exciting sport.
The defending champion of the Mark Bostock Memorial Trophy is Fazly
Azhar who put up an excellent performance last year to beat a large
number of participants to snatch the coveted trophy.
The others who should have a crack at this prestigious trophy and
other events like Best Gross Score, Best Nett Score, Nearest to the Pin
and the Longest Drive are Ian Tait, Sujeewa Lankatillake. Sam Gunaratne,
Sirath Kasthuriratne, Chamil Wickremasinghe, Henry de Mel, Tony Witham,
Chris Holloway, Lalith Ramanayake, Rohan de Silva, Rolf Tibblins,
Desmond Haynes, Ravi Mediwaka, Suren Waass, Noel Joseph, Anel de Silva,
Sunil Jayakoddy, Per Cramborn, Richard Witham and many others.
The championship for the ladies will also have similar events as for
the men and the winner of the gross event will be awarded the Tony
Witham Trophy.
