National sports policy soon - Sports Minister

The newly appointed Minister of Sports C. B. Ratnayake vowed to establish a National Sports Policy for the betterment of sports in the country.

The Minister made these observations during his first media gathering held at the Olympic House, Colombo 7 recently.

The Minister said that he is expecting the views and suggestions of all media personnel and other sports lovers and other experts.

The Minister further noted that a new information technology system will be introduced to track all details regarding sporting activities, history and data.

The Minister is also hoping to develop a Sports Fund for the improvement of the game in the country. In addition a sports medicine unit will be set up at every district for the benefit of the sportsmen and sportswomen.

The Minister also stated that the existing Sports Act will be upgraded for the improvement of sports in the Sri Lanka.

The Minister is hoping to transform all sporting associations to be more active and produce better results in their assignments.
