Another visit to secure GSP +


Minister G. L. Peiris

External Affairs Minister G. L. Peiris told Parliament yesterday that a special delegation will visit brussels later this month to persuade the European Commission to continue the GSP+.

The Minister was speaking opening the debate after presenting three regulations under the Imports and Exports (Control) Act.

The delegation will comprise Treasury Secretary P. B. Jayasundara, Foreign Ministry Secretary Romesh Jayasinghe, Justice Ministry Secretary Suhada Gamlath and Attorney General Mohan Peiris.

Minister Professor Peiris stated the delegation will visit Brussels on May 20.

He also stated that this was the second visit by the delegation to Brussels after the March visit.

The first visit was fruitful as the delegation had identified the issues that needed to be addressed.
