TRCSL special program to probe stolen, lost phones

The Telecommunication Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL) has launched a special program to investigate complaints made by mobile phone users relating to lost and misplaced phones.

According to TRCSL sources an investigation can be made if a mobile phone user provided relevant ‘IMEI’ number which is readable on any mobile phone network by dialing #06#.

If the complainant is unable to provide the ‘IMEI’ number it is also possible to conduct the investigation using the telephone number provided by the complainant. The TRCSL will take steps to trace the ‘IMEI’ number from the relevant mobile phone network.

Mobile phone users are requested to lodge the initial complaint at the Police Station where the phone was possibly stolen, misplaced or stolen with the certified copy of the police complaint.
