Proper National Water Management policy needed - Minister

It is necessary to protect our valuable water resources and get maximum use of water, Irrigation and Water Resource Development Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said at the Mahaweli Authority after assuming duties yesterday.

He said as everyone knows the world is at risk of not having enough water in future for drinking and day-to-day activities because of climate change.

He said his ministry is important in many areas of development such as agriculture, economy, tourism and industry. “It is necessary to have a proper national water management policy to formulate the future development of the country.

I’ll do my best to do that with the help of former Minister Maitreepala Sirisena, the Minister said.
