Cader resigns party position
UNP Kandy District Parliamentarian and UNP Muslim National Organizer
A.R.M. Abdul Cader has resigned from the position he holds in the party
in protest against the party leadership’s inability to safeguard the
traditional UNP voter base in the Kandy District.
In a letter to UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, Cader a very senior
UNP parliamentarian said despite the division of votes, the party had
nominated three candidates for the Kandy District and brought in SLMC
leader Rauf Hakim and thereby losing the five seats in parliament.
He said in his letter that the party hierarchy did not extend any
support to him during the general election and therefore he was
resigning from the position of UNP Muslim National Organizer. |
