Heavy showers predicted

Heavy showers will develop in Southern and Western parts of the island during the morning and evening with the activation of inter-monsoon rains, said the Meteorologists in charge D.A. Jayasinghearachchi.

The Meteorological Department warns to the public to pay their attention to minimize damages happening due to lightning.

These days there is a great lightning risk due to thunder showers.

The strength of the Inter Tropical Conversion Zone causes thunder storms.

It is common in Sri Lanka during April when lightning rapidly increases compared to other months of the year and they are known among the public as ‘Bakmaha Akunu.’
