Jeweller robbed

A gang of five armed men clad in uniforms similar to police uniforms broke into a house of a jeweller at Miriswelpotha, Udawalawe around 9 p.m. last Wednesday escaped with a consignment of jewellery and Rs. 200,000 in cash.

The value of the consignment of jewellery has not been estimated, the police said.

The crime branch of Udawalawe police are investigating.
