Kelum Bodhimana Thihagoda Special corr.
The people of Ruhuna are determined to help President Mahinda
Rajapaksa to set up a strong Parliament, said Minister Mahinda
Amaraweera. He was addressing an election rally at Anugunakolapellessa.
He said the UNP and JVP are doomed today. The UNP is gradually
vanishing into thin air. The Marxism of the JVP has turned into 'Fonseka-ism'.
He pointed out that the Opposition Leader of the Angunakolapelessa
Pradeshiya Sabha joining the Government ranks is the best example of the
apathy that UNPers have with its party leadership. Everybody is
astonished by the massive development drive taking place throughout the
country.
The Minister added that the government raised percentage of families
who has the access to the pipe borne water from 22% to 82% in Hambantota
District. He said that with the commissioning of Kekirimbada tank in
Kirama, the government has taken steps to further increase this
percentage.
UNFA Hambantota Candidate and Tharunnayata Hetak President Namal
Rajapaksa said the standard of education in the district will be raised
to that of international level in the future, thus raising education
standards throughout the country.
"We will improve the conditions of existing roads and develop the
entire road network in the country," he said. He noted that Hambantota
has attracted international attention. He said that the development
process of the district is not ad hoc but was a result of a long term
action plan. |
