New bus services from Kilinochchi

An inauguration ceremony was held on March 24 at Kilinochchi District Secretariat to launch a new bus service to cater to the needs of commuters in difficult areas like, Kawtharimunai, Murasumoddai, Akkarayan and Oddusuddan originating from the Kilinochchi bus stand.

For this a request has made by Northern Province Governor G. A. Chandrasiri to the Sri Lanka Transport Board and confirmation received to set aside 10 buses to ply the region through the Kilinochchi Sub Depot.

In case a particular route is serviced at a loss, the Northern Provincial Council will subsidies the bus crew with an additional allowance together with a provision of fuel.

Additionally, the ferry service sea route between Poonahari (Kalmunai) and Jaffna is once again to be revived soon. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Social Services and Social Welfare Minister Douglas Devananda, Northern Province Governor G. A. Chandrasiri, Deputy Chief Secretary T. Rasanayagam, Provincial Public Administration NPC R. Sribavanam, Manager SLTB North Kilinochchi Sub Depot were present at this occasion.
