Three boxers for China Open
The International Boxing Association has approved the '3-Star event'
China Open, which will be staged jointly with the Guizhou Municipal
Government in Guiyang City from the April 3 to 10. The China Open, is
event held annually in April. In its first year approximately 150 boxers
from 25 countries participated.
This approval benefits of AIBA 3-Star as the tournament will be
considered as one of the official AIBA Ranking Events, use of the
official AIBA logo, use of the designation 'AIBA Approved 3-Star Event',
inclusion in the AIBA Joint (Group) Marketing Program, AIBA selection of
Technical Delegates and ITOs.
The Amateur Boxing Association of Sri Lanka has announced the
following team selected from the Boxing Developing squad to compete at
this tournament. The three pugilists with officials are to leave the
island tomorrow.
This championship will be a highly contested one as the greatly
improved boxers from China and Cuba who finished fourth in the 2009
Milan world championships are competing. It is going to be tough
competition for the Sri Lankan boxers but it will be a great opportunity
for them to gain experience for these young boxers.

Silva - Feather Weight (Slimline SC), RS Kumarasinghe (SL Navy),
Officials: Manager Lt. Col. Hemantha Weerasinghe, Coach W Wasantha
Kumara, Referee Udeni Kiridena.
