UNP neglected plantation workers - SB

The Government has planned to offer Samurdhi benefits to workers in the plantation sector who have retired from service.

Samurdhi officers will be appointed to the estate sector to streamline this program, said Kandy District UPFA candidate S.B. Dissanayake at a UPFA election rally held at Pussellawa recently.

Dissanayake said President Rajapaksa is the only leader who had properly understood the problems of plantation workers.

The UNP had neglected plantation workers after obtaining their votes through deceit in the past.

Now that the 30 year war had ended, there was a peaceful atmosphere for people of all communities to live in unity and pursue their livelihood.

Dissanayake said the next UPFA government would provide jobs to unemployed graduates within four months of presenting its maiden budget. Graduates in the plantation sector too would benefit from this program.
