Suspect allowed to make confession

The Colombo Fort Magistrate and Additional District Judge Lanka
Jayaratne allowed an application by Wellington Dehoedt, a director of
Hicorp (Pvt) Limited to make a confession before the Judge.
Allowing the application by Senior Counsel Nalin Dissanayake the
Judge directed the suspect Dehoedt to make his confession before the
Judge in the chambers.
On an application by the Criminal Investigation Department conducting
investigation in connection with an alleged arms deal by Dununa
Tillekeratne, son in law of General Sarath Fonseka, the Judge re-issued
warrant for the arrest of Danuna Tillekeratne who is evading arrest and
further remanded the Hicorp Director Dehoedt till April 8.
Chief Inspector Mohan Siriwardena of the CID said that a special CID
team had searched several places in Sri Lanka where Danuna alleged to
have been living. The investigation also revealed that Danuna had left
the country.
The CID said investigations into the alleged arms deal had not been
completed. Chief Inspector Mohan Siriwardena also said that the suspect
director had forwarded several forged documents to the Army authorities
in order to obtain the contract to his company. The CID will submit a
comprehensive report in connection with their ongoing investigations to
court on the next date.
On an application by Senior Counsel Asela Rekawa, the Judge directed
the CID to submit a report in connection with their ongoing
investigations against the grandmother of Danuna Tillekratne on the next
date to court.
The case will be called again on April 8.
