Kindness taken for weakness

Karuwalagaswewa police are investigating the case of a motor cyclist who had come to a house asking for a glass of water and snatched the house wife's gold necklace.

Rathugamage Mary Perera, 60, of Buddidiyawara, Tabbowa had complained to Karuwalagaswewa Police that a motor cyclist had come to her home asking for a glass of water.

When she was about to go in to bring him water he had snatched her gold necklace and fled.

The necklace was worth Rs.50,000. The thief was accompanied by another person on the motor cycle. As soon as he snatched the necklace, the other man had started the engine of the motor cycle and the two had fled, she had stated in the complaint.
